Fantastic Adobe Illustrator, Digital Painter & Teacher: bertmonroy.com


The Inspiration Design Lecture series had the honor of having Bert Monroy Skype with our students to discuss his work, design process and to demonstrate fantastic Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator techniques.

Bert Monroy is a digital painter, early Photoshop adopter, and a professor. His clients include Apple, Adobe, and Disney.

Bert Monroy is a pioneer of digital art. He is a hyper-realistic digital painter who builds his digital paintings as a traditional artist would: adding color and texture, but on a digital canvas. A veteran of twenty years in the advertising industry and thirty years as a commercial illustrator, Bert coauthored the first book on Photoshop and has authored several books since. He was a regular on TechTV for almost four years and until recently hosted PixelPerfect with Bert Monroy, a weekly Photoshop podcast for Revision3.com that aired for over three years.

An accomplished teacher and lecturer, Bert has served on the faculty of a list of institutions that includes The School of Visual Arts (New York), Center for Creative Imaging (Maine), California College of the Arts, the Lepp Institute of Digital Imaging (California) and currently teaches at San Francisco State University. Bert was a monthly regular on Tech TV for over three years. He hosted Pixel Perfect with Bert Monroy, a weekly Photoshop podcast for Revision3.com.

He also consults with and trains corporate clients, including Pixar and Disney Animation. His film credits include work for Industrial Light & Magic, Pacific Data Images, and R/Greenberg Associates. Bert also continues to serve his installed base of clients which include Apple Computer, Adobe Systems, Epson, and Wacom.

He currently has a weekly podcast called Pixel Playground with Bert Monroy on Lynda.com where he also has an extensive library of video tutorials. A popular speaker at many worldwide conferences, Bert is a member of the Photoshop World Dream Team. In 2004, Bert was inducted into the Photoshop Hall of Fame.
